Treasures and Renovations

The last few days I have had pain in my back caused by muscle spasms. While praying this morning asking God to take the pain away and how can I live Inside Out while I am hurting.

God reminded me in 2 Corinthians 4:6-18  that He, Creator God who caused light to shine out of darkness is the One who has shone light into my dark heart through Christ. He reminded me that this is a treasure that He has put within clay pots, so that His power in abundance will show through. It his His power at work within us, not our own.

When we see a treasure chest, it is usually very beautiful on the outside, filled with jewels and precious items. People search for treasures to give their life more value and abundance. But the true treasure is what God gives.

God has put His treasure in clay pots (us), filling us with His Spirit so His power will shine through.  Because of this we can be afflicted in every way BUT not crushed, perplexed BUT not despairing, persecuted BUT not forsaken, struck down BUT not destroyed. Why? For the purpose of Jesus being manifested in our lives and the gospel being spread to more and more people for God’s glory.

So even though our bodies are getting older and falling apart we are being renewed daily, on the inside. I looked up renewed and it means renovated. When you watch the home design shows they usually are working , renovating to give the home more value, something to treasure.

God says that we are clay pots He is renovating from the inside out, daily. This is not so we will be more valuable but that His power and glory will shine through to the outside accomplishing His purpose. He is reminding us that this light affliction is for a short time and is producing  an eternal  glory that can’t be compared. That is true treasure.

So, no matter what is happening in this “clay pot” of mine,  I am God’s “treasure chest” because His power is at work in me, daily renovating me from the inside out.
